Author Charity Parkerson is the First Featured Author of our Valentine's Day Fantastical Reads Event ' on facebook

I have had the honor of following this author since reading her 'Wicked Sinners' series a few years ago.  I absolutely love her writing style and stories.  Charity is not only a great author, but is also a wonderful person and I have grown to consider her a friend.  She has a great outlook on life and will keep you in stitches... she is down to earth, funny and there is never a dull moment when she is around.  It's my great privilege to share this interview the first day of this event.

Q:    What is the craziest thing you've ever written about, whether it got published or not?

A:   I have a short story called, “Blue Cheesecake” that’s a funny Sci-Fi Erotica. It is published and the reviews I’ve received on that one crazy story have floored me with how hilarious they are. I think some of the reviews are better than the book.

Q:     Tell us one thing you've done in life, that readers would be most surprised to know.
A:     One of my books is based off true events in my life, but I’ll never tell which one it is.

Q:     What’s the worst/oddest present that you’ve ever received?
A:     My boss once gave me a picture of her with her cat.

Q:    Much has been written about how a book will change from the original intent of the writer, as it's being written. How did your book change as you created it, and did it surprise you how it came out?

A:    Wicked Sinners almost didn’t make it to completion for this reason. Halfway through the book, I realized my characters were heading in a direction I never intended. I froze. For two weeks, I spent my entire day trying to decide if I could do what needed to be done in order to move the series forward, and then I spent another two weeks crying over it.

Q:  What made you choose your genre of writing, and what about your genre fascinates you?

A:   Reading has been one of the greatest loves of my life. While I’m willing to read almost anything, Romance is the one I enjoy the most. It’s high-tension and I love drawing that emotion from readers. If I can give one person a temporary escape from reality then I have succeeded.

Q:  Would you ever consider writing in a different genre?

A:   I don’t think so. I hate to say no, since I never dreamed I would end up writing erotica, but I haven’t found anything I love as much as romance.

Q:   Is there any part of your books that you would like to see happen in reality?
A:   Considering some of the erotica I write, I’ll say, “hell yeah” and leave it there.

Q:  Who is your favourite character and why?
A:  Lena from “The Assassin” because she is me. I put more of myself into her character than any other. She is klutzy and a daydreamer but totally awesome.

Q:   If you had to choose one trait over the others for your main characters, which B would it be? Brains Bod Bloodlust
A:   Brains. Although, a hot bod is a hard thing to pass up.

Q:   If you were not otherwise committed, what film star would you love to know better?
A:   Alexander Skarsgard.  I’m absolutely convinced he’s my soul mate.  He just doesn’t realize it yet.

Excerpt from A Splash of Hope-

“Hey.”
Faith looked over in surprise at the man walking beside her. She’d hoped if she moved fast enough, she could make a clean getaway without ever having to speak to Adam. She should’ve known to wear lower heels. Adam kept his hands shoved in his pockets. His eyes shined brightly. He looked nice. It was the best word she could think of to describe him. His smile was friendly. Somehow, even his brown hair gave the impression he was an affable person. She’d hoped her memories of him had become exaggerated over the years. It wasn’t to be. He was everything she remembered, if not more. She wanted to kick herself. Whom was she kidding? He was every bit as sexy, dangerous and way too appealing.
“Hey,” she said back lamely, feeling like a jackass but refusing to slow her step.
“What’s the rush?” He all but trotted to keep up with her. “Do you have another wedding to ruin today?”
Even though his words stung, Faith ruefully admitted he had a right to his anger. However, he didn’t sound angry. He sounded almost cheerful, which brought her up short. “You were my only wedding, but I do have a full schedule today,” she admitted. “I still have to throw rocks at the homeless and trip an old lady in the park before I head off to find Serenity to kick her ass.”
Adam was never one to miss a beat. “Why?”
“Somebody has to trip the old ladies. Otherwise, they might start thinking no one cares,” she answered, deliberately misunderstanding. Adam rubbed his hand across the back of his neck. He looked uncomfortable. Faith felt her shoulders sag in defeat.
He watched her in silence for a moment longer before blowing out a ragged sigh. “Tell Serenity to call me when you find her. Just so I know she is alright, okay?”
Faith nodded absently, watching as he walked away. She’d never felt more tired in her life. Of course, she’d also never wanted to throw her shoes at a man’s back more than she did right then.
